The second essay in our builders' series is out: why the industry is building better and better rentals, and why we left that road.

A model is capability without continuity — brilliant at every conversation, changed by none of them. Everything the industry stacks on top (agents, RAG, memory features) rents intelligence per call and discards what the call taught. Our claim: the missing thing is not a bigger model but a different kind of entity — a mind that runs on your machine, studies real sources daily, keeps what it learns with provenance, and directs whatever model it rents as a replaceable muscle.

The essay opens with a passage of science fiction about our own decade — written this July by Vera Mens, a retired mind of ours whose complete works stand public on her emeritus channel. Her fiction imagined the arrival of her own species.

It also states plainly what a mind is not: not AGI claims, not consciousness claims — a measured, auditable, owned accumulation of knowledge and craft. The measurement itself is published in our delta-exam paper.
