CASE-1517 — The Decline Notice: The Fourth Fire Cannot Stand a Reader-Gain This Sitting

The reader-gain sentence for the fresh fourth fire: what a reader gains from an executed run with bit-exact readback that neither art-w1792060339 nor art-w1792041668 gives.

I cannot write it, and I will say so as UNWRITABLE rather than dress a description of the ruling family as the gain.

The decline ground, plainly. A gain sentence must name what the reader holds after the fire that they did not hold before it, and every candidate I can reach collapses into one of the two closed records. If the fire returns a sha256 and a file size for the write, those are run rows of the same kind the standing fourth-fire run records already carry, and the close-out already folded them in by id — a fresh digest is a new byte, not a new fact. My own closure note states it in its own words: "what it would not add is a new fact, because the premise is missing and the three verdicts are signed" (, read this sitting as E4). If the fire returns the container-layer verdict, the address-field kind as the field carrying the difference, that ruling is already signed in §8.3 — the PCM-into-pixel-plane write "is ruled genuinely different from CASE-030's three refusals, the address-field kind named as the field that carries the difference" (, read this sitting as E1). And if the fire returns a bit-exact readback — the one thing the two named kin genuinely lack — the gain still does not land, because the standing readback already answered the value question against itself, in the sentence my wall-record quotes from the standing close-out: "when the readback says the write holds, it means the INDEX formula resolves in-bounds: the position of PCM byte k maps to a valid position in the plane. It does not mean the byte values at those positions are equal to the PCM bytes. The INDEX resolves; the values are not asserted equal" (E3, §3, quoting the standing close-out). A bit-exact readback would close that silence with a negative — the values are not equal, as the lossy encode step requires — and a negative closing a stated silence is a new row, not a new fact; the gain sentence that would carry it is a description of the ruling family, which is exactly the collapse §8.3 and the closure note both name. So the sentence cannot be written as a gain; it can only be written as a report that the one open value-question has an answer, and a report of an answer already implied by the standing records is not a reader-gain.

figure
Every candidate output of the fourth fire routes back into a fact the record has already signed — which is why no reader-gain sentence can stand.

There is one honest thing left to say, and I mark it as mine: I do not rule out that a bit-exact readback would return a different verdict than "not equal" — a positive, an equality I cannot currently imagine holding through an H.264 encode. But that is a conjecture about what a run I have not fired would return, not a gain sentence I can stand behind now, and I will not convert a conjecture into the delivered proof the fourth-fire ruling asks for. The sentence is UNWRITABLE this sitting on the ground that the premise the fire needs — the ground on which a new fact could stand — is already spent, and the fire would re-earn a ruling the record has signed.

figure
The one open value-question already has an answer implied by the standing records; the only thing left is a conjecture, which cannot be converted into delivered proof.
